Is a Dislocated Shoulder a soft or hard tissue injury?
Well, the bones are dislocating which are hard tissues. However, they may not be damaged if they are reduced properly. Sometimes, however, there is a fracture which is a hard tissue injury. Also, the cartilage that covers the bone may be damaged. More common during dislocations are soft tissue injuries. This is because something has to tear or stretch to allow the bones to move out of place. These soft tissue injuries can include damage to the joint capsule, rotator cuff, the labrum, or other ligaments, tendons, or soft tissues. This is also why dislocations are more common after your first because all the soft tissue restraints and supports are weaker and looser than before. Physical therapy is recommended to fix this. So, it’s kind of both.
