Is a Mantoux test required?
The “Mantoux,” also known as a PPD, is a tuberculosis screening test. This test is used to determine proof of freedom from Tuberculosis. The date of this test must be one month prior to attendance at SJU. The Mantoux test is required for students determined to be in a ‘high risk’ category, and at the discretion of the health care provider. High risk students would include international students from countries where TB is prevalent, students who work in high risk congregate settings, and students with certain clinical conditions. High risk students are required to have a Mantoux test unless their current chest X-ray report states there are no abnormal findings.
