Is a red-eye flight the least full… and other plane Qs (LOST fans?)?
Okay, first things first. A red-eye flight is one that leaves late at night and gets in at its destination early in the morning. They call them red-eyes because you never really do get a lot of sleep on a plane anyway, and you have to get off a red-eye early in the morning, when you’d usually be waking up on a normal flight. Red-eyes used to be less busy, but they are a lot more popular now, especially for business travelers. They’ll leave someplace like New York, and get into their destination in Europe early in the morning, and then be able to be at a meeting at lunchtime. There are only marginally fewer people on red-eyes these days. People going on vacation may try not to be on a red-eye if the first place they land is their final destination simply because they cannot check into their hotel until the afternoon (usually 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm local time), and they don’t know what to do with themselves from the time they get in to when they can go to their hotel.
