Is anyone exempt from getting the Boater Education Certificate?
A. Yes. The list of exemptions are as follows: • 18 years of age or older • Accompanied onboard by an adult (18 years of age or older) • Out-of-state and foreign visitors. If you are not a resident of Texas and have proof of passing a boater education course in another state is accepted by the TPWD. • Boaters with a current Coast Guard Boat Operator License. Boaters such as guides and barge operators who hold a current Coast Guard Boat Operator License are exempt from the requirement.
