IS BAILEY’S POINT NEPEAN TRUST A TROJAN HORSE?
The Acting Environment Minister, Rob Hulls, today warned the Federal Government against turning a community trust into a Trojan horse for future development of Point Nepean. Mr Hulls said Victorians currently knew little more about the Point Nepean Community Trust than its name. The Trust was ostensibly set up to manage the site for five years before it’s turned into a national park managed by the State Government. “I have written to Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Fran Bailey, about this issue because we are currently in the dark about the Point Nepean Community Trust and, frankly, the Commonwealth can’t be trusted,” Mr Hulls said. “We don’t know whether the Point Nepean Community Trust is a private entity or a legislated body. We don’t know the legal status of the 90 hectares of land at Point Nepean. We don’t know about lease or access options for community groups. “We don’t even know who will sit on the Trust. “The Commonwealth must stop back flipping on Point Nepean long enoug
