You could be pregnant OR your body could be prepping for your next period. Home pregnancy tests aren’t really accurate until the first day your next scheduled period is due to arrive. Any sooner and chances will be that the pregnancy hormone levels won’t be high enough for a clear and accurate reading. Use first-morning urine, because that’s when the hGC levels are at their highest (because you haven’t been drinking while you’re asleep, so the urine isn’t diluted). If you get a negative result but your period is late or doesn’t arrive, wait a few days and retest, or schedule an appointment with your doctor for a blood test, because some women never exhibit a high enough hGC level in their urine to read for a positive result.
