Is Class Approved computer hardware required?
Sometimes, but not for all Classification Societies and ship types. Even when “approved hardware” is required, this requirement can be met in several different ways to provide suitable redundancy or safeguards. The traditional way to meet this requirement is with a single type-approved PC; however, approval of the shipboard network or multiple CargoMax™ capable computers is also viable options for meeting this requirement.
