Is CNP required to provide snacks for afterschool?
No, only those school systems that qualify for and wish to provide an after school snack program can participate under this program. CNP is a completely separate and different program from 21st Century. CNP has no funding related to 21st Century. This is a USDA funded program and has no relation to any USDOE programs. 21st Century cannot cause the CNP to lose money in the operation of the program. No school is required to have an after school snack program. It is only a service that may be provided if the school district wishes to do so and then if the cost is recovered.
