IS DAMIEN THE MOST SUCCESSFUL GOLFER ON THE COSTA BLANCA?
Well, if recent results are anything to go by Damien Corvan, who originally hails from Arnagh City in Ireland, certainly has a claim to that accolade. Playing for Katie Reilly´s Golf Society based in cc Rioja – just a short drive from Villamartin Golf Course – Damien has won all three major internal competitions staged by the Society this year and in doing so became the first person to win two, let alone three, tournaments in the same season. Firstly, he led his four man team to the President´s Day Trophy when they carded a net 62 in a Texas Scramble at Mosa Trajectum in May. Then, in the heat of August he won the Chloe Cup – the Society´s premier medal event staged at Roda – with a very impressive net round of 71. And finally at Peraleja in September he outpointed the rest of the 32 man (and women) field on Captain´s Day with a stableford score of 42 points.
