Is drinking rain water safe?

It can be, but I suggest boiling it. Rain water can be pure water since there are no dangerous solutes in the water (excluded acids that can form from pollutants). However when the rain falls microorganism (they can be harmful) that can travel through the air can contaminate the water – suggesting that you boil it to remove the harmful pathogenic microorganism (which is a possibility).
