I assume your talking about intercourse in the context of marriage. I not sure myself there’s nothing to my knowledge in the bible that raises the subject except for the account in Genesis 38:9 but I think this runs a lot deeper then just wasting semen could it have been the heart motive behind it “lest he should give an heir to his brother” there was something going on hear that displeased the Lord. It seems Onan had absolutely no intention of ever ever having a child with her for his own selfish reasons. The footnotes of the NKJ study bible indicate that where the word when is used it can also mean whenever telling me that it wasn’t just one occasion this took place but on every occasion it seems to me to have been an on-going conscious act of rebellious defiance against the purpose of the marriage and what was probably also one of the laws given by God specifically to the Jews.
