Is Inglorious Basterds Tarentinos Finest Hour?
When I saw the trailer for Inglorious Basterds I thought that it would be your typical World War 2 film with the typical Tarantino style added to it. How wrong I was. There is very little real action in it (except for at the start and at the end) and the film heavily relies on an excellent script that sucks you in, chews you up and spits you out the other end. Because most of this film is in German (and French) with only subtitles to go off, there was a large risk that the audience wouldn’t keep up and be sufficiently drawn into the story. This is not the case, and the differences in language throughout the film only add to the realism and excitement of the whole affair. It came as no surprise to me to hear that Quentin Tarantino spent over 3 years working on the script and perfecting every detail. To give an example of how good of a script this is, you could easily convert the film into a stage play and it would lose very little of its quality. So the question is: ‘Is Inglorious Baste
