Is it bad to eat spicy foods once in a while while pregnant?

Eating spicy foods while pregnant will not harm your baby in any way. I would avoid spicy food if you have morning sickness and always keep a bottle of Tums handy as it may give you heartburn or indigestion. There is an “old wives tale” that eating spicy foods will help you go into labor but this has not been proved true and did not work for me. The only foods you should avoid while pregnant is: raw meats, raw eggs, limit caffeine, unpasteurized cheese, fish with high levels of Mercury (king mackerel, shark, swordfish, tilefish), and pate. So enjoy satisfying your spicy food cravings…. just don’t give into the occasional dirt craving some women get!
