Is it halal…?
Imported Food Grade Health supplements and food products such as frozen chicken, drink, can food etc are required by AVA to undergo safety test before being sold. If you are entering the Malay/Muslim market, “Halal” certification is required. For Drugs or Medicine/Pharmaceutical Grade health supplements, the local authority responsible for safety test is “HSA. Once it is certified as a Drug or Medicine/Pharmaceutical health supplement (e.g. Painkillers like “Panadol”), it does not require “Halal” certification. To proof that it has already been certified as a Drug or a Medicine/Pharmaceutical Grade standard, a certificate or a license number will be issued by “HSA”. If the product is manufactured in Australia, the certification body will be “TGA” and in United States will be “FDA” which are equivalent to Singapore’s HSA.
