Is it ok to let my dog chew on a cardboard paper towel roll tube?

My GSD loves cardboard rolls from toliet paper/paper towels. I let him play with them until he started to tear them up. I make sure he doesn’t eat the pieces. But they are good ‘free’ toys. She just has to be monitored so she doesn’t eat the pieces.

Depends on the dog. Little dogs have more issues than big ones. The problem with eating cardboard is a bowel obstruction (blocking up their pooper). So, you want to be careful to not let her swallow a bunch. If she’s like my animals, she just wants to chew it to pieces and leave you a nice big mess to clean up. Just don’t leave her unattended while she does it. Go get her a rubber kong. You can hide a treat inside and she can satisfy her chewing urge safely.
