Is it okay to use whipped cream cheese for cream cheese frosting?
You will be fine – Whipped cream cheese or butter is meant to be lighter. You will usually use a lesser amount because of the air whipped into it, thus making it lower in fat and calories – not by much, but slightly. Your frosting will still come out nice and rich, but may be more “airy”. Now, if you have a low fat or no fat cream cheese, the consistency may be altered.
