You answered the question truthfully. Even if you are charged criminally, a conviction does not occur until you either plead guilty or are found guilty after a trial. Neither of those things has happened yet. Also, although it is difficult to tell from you post, when you say that you have been “offered a fiscal fine”, I suspect that you may be referring to what is commonly called a “civil demand” whereby you pay the store money to compensate the store for the shoplifting incident. If I am correct, then that is not a criminal charge either and would not result in a “conviction” even if you pay it in full.
