Is it safe to freeze cooked food in take away containers?

I can’t think of a reason they would not be safe to freeze food in. I would be careful microwaving if it is a plastic container. The plastic releases harmful toxins when you microwave in the containers. You could certainly use them for leftover and use paper plates or glass dishes to use in the microwave.

I think that you should wash your containers before you reuse them over again- and people have told me that there’s a 3 day rule for freezing cooked food. After 3 days, there will be much more chances that you might get sick from eating the food. That’s the way it goes in my house.

I wouldn’t. They won’t seal well. And really those frrezer conatiners will fit better in your freezer. You can even buy plastic containers at the dollar store.

I use them for freezing as long as I know I will use within a week or 2. They are not reliably “air-tight”, so if you are looking to freeze for any longer, use the freezer containers from the grocery store to avoid freezer burn.

they might be ok short term (not more than a few weeks) after that I think you’ll have a real problem with freezer burn if you don’t use bags or containers specifically made to work best in the freezer
