Because the GM of the New York Jets at the time was Ron Wolf, and he was very interested in Brett Favre, and they were going to take him with the 34th pick in the draft. But the Falcons took him 33rd. A year later Ron Wolf was GM of the Packers, and traded away a first round pick for him. So thank Ron Wolf, or else Brett Favre could still be wearing Red and Black, or worse, his career could have never amounted to anything.
