Fossil records include mostly bones. Scientists are just now beginning to work with a few well-preserved protein molecules, if I’m not mistaken. Anything you read/see about: coloring musculature behavior abilities is strictly conjecture, until such time as scientists invent a machine to travel [or at least look] back in time. Having said that, I believe this is true of some, or most reptiles, so it’s a good guess that it would apply to dinosaurs as well. However, the debate is still open as to how much the dinosaurs resembled reptiles. Many scientists now believe that dinosaurs were warm-blooded [had metabolisms high enough to generate their own heat, unlike reptiles]. Sources: I read science magazines.
