Is Jack Kerouacs On The Road worth reading?
I read it when I was about 17, and it changed my life. However, I’ve recommended it to a lot of people, and they either love it or hate it… I think it really depends on where you are right now in your life. The book fell into my lap at a time when I was searching desperately for something other than the upper-middle class, suburban life my parents had provided me up to that point. It really showed me that there is adventure to be had out there, and I certainly shouldn’t pass up any opportunities that come my way. So, I say go ahead and buy it, if it sounds like something that might appeal to you. It has definitely altered the way I, and millions of other people, experience the world around us.
