Is Java hard to learn?
Object-oriented programming is quite different from the linear processing that administrative programmers do in NATURAL. It requires a new approach to data, functionality, and application design. However, for the motivated person who is open to new ideas and technologies, it is not hard to learn. It takes practice and time, however, to achieve proficiency. Some have asked if a five-week commitment (which is the time period of our current Java training camp) could be shortened. Actually, five weeks are not long enough to learn Java and Tamino thoroughly. Our strategy is to have the campers immerse themselves in a five-week training period, then move them directly onto a Java/Tamino-related project. They will then continue learning as they work through the challenges they face in their projects. This is the most cost-effective solution to training new Java developers that we see at this point. Once we have more analysts trained in the technologies, we will be able to offer more sophistic
