Is Jets coach Rex Ryan’s Super Bowl talk just bluster?
The Jets have plenty of talent, although Chargers fans must be laughing at how they welcomed aging LaDainian Tomlinson and troublesome Antonio Cromartie with open arms. Led by the outspoken Ryan and cornerback Darrelle Revis, the Jets will again play tenacious defense. But second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez could hold them back. If he performs like he did in the playoffs last season, a Super Bowl run is indeed possible. But if Sanchez reverts to regular-season form, Gang Green will be forced to rely on their defense more than ever. Those questions, coupled with New England’s Tom Brady return to form and Miami fielding a tough team, could leave Ryan looking like a fool come playoff time.
