Yes. It is better if the hardware and networking engineer has knowledge and competencies in maintaining security systems. This is because technologies are blurring the line between computers, gadgets, wired and the wireless, softwares across the board. The increasing instances of data fraud, theft, terrorist attacks, etc. have made security a critical issue. Today organizations are demanding for professionals who not only administer and maintain computer networks, but also ensure security of in-bound and out-bound data, infrastructure, etc. Therefore, it is of paramount importance that a Computer Hardware and Networking Engineer should also have Competencies in Prevention Technology.
