Is Millennium Stadium hindering Welsh football?
Dec 3 2007 by Paul Abbandonato, Western Mail JOHN TOSHACK has outlined why Wales are considering the controversial step of moving key qualifying matches away from the Millennium Stadium, insisting, “We need to look at every possible avenue in a bid to get an edge on our World Cup rivals.” The move comes as Toshack questions the treatment given to his Wales team by Millennium Stadium chiefs and after he lambasted the “shocking condition” of the pitch for the recent game against the Republic of Ireland. Senior FA of Wales officials have discussed ending the traditional practice of staging every competitive match at the 74,000-seater home of Welsh sport once the World Cup qualifiers kick in. Instead, Toshack and those FAW bigwigs want to look at the Group D fixture schedule on a game-by-game basis and delay naming venues until the last possible moment. If necessary, Toshack even suggests Wales should consider playing giants Germany at the 14,000 capacity Racecourse, rather than the Millen
