Is Mozart a greater composer than Bach?

I think all three are brilliant in their own right. Not to mention they all represent different eras of music, so you can’t really compare them side by side. Bach was the best of Baroque because of his brilliant counterpoint and fugue writing. He truly mastered the style, and in most piano assessments (like auditions or certifications) you can’t get by without preforming one of Bach’s Preludes and Fugues. Mozart was a prodigy, and his mind was truly devoted to music. He wrote brilliant and beautiful music, but in all honesty he wasn’t a significant figure in the evolution of music. He was simply really REALLY good at what he did. Beethoven was basically the bridge between classical and romantic music. He started doing things that other composers weren’t even thinking of. He didn’t follow the guidelines of classical music, but rather he made his own. You can’t deny Bach’s talent just because he didn’t write any operas…he did plenty of things that Mozart didn’t do.
