Is open burning allowed within the City of Wheaton corporate limits?

0

General open burning of yard waste, garbage or other materials is prohibited by City Ordinance. Controlled burning of natural plants may be allowed if the proper permits are obtained through both the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the City of Wheaton. Recreational and food-related fires are allowed if conducted within commercial/approved containers such as grills. Small ground camp/bon fires require a special permit from the Fire Department. The ordinance information can be obtained at: http://www.wheaton.il.us/custom/citycode/index.htm under Chapter 54, Article IV, Open Burning.
