Is recycling paper, by any chance, harmful to the environment?

I have a recycling kit at home ive had ever since i was 6 years old (good old mum’s idea) which works by adding some hot water to your cut up scraps of used paper (from cardboard to letters, tissue paper and newspaper, even old rubbish paper) then add things like glitter or whatever you want to decorate and using these sieves to trap the wet paper mesh in a square device, this lets you take out the wet piece of paper, letting it dry for 2 nights or so, and presto!!! New colourful paper…i use the paper for cards, envelopes and gift wrapping or gift making, its more earth friendly than buying a card or other paper product… By recycling paper, we reduce the need to produce or buy products… meaning less trees being cut down and power used to produce the paper (such as electricity and power use in the ALUMINIUM recylcing process), like any resuable process it does often mean the use of water and other resources and even power in some cases (like when recylcing alluminium cans).
