No, Saffire is a Firewire 400 device. Firewire has a much larger bandwidth than USB 1.0, allowing Saffire to have multiple i/o and sample rates up to 192kHz. There are also two Firewire ports on the Saffire so that you can chain/connect additional Firewire devices to your computer, such as hard drives, even though your computer may only have one Firewire port.
