Is salicylic acid more acidic than aspirin?

Aspirin is also called “acetylsalicylic acid”, so it is only slightly different than salicylic acid. I’m not sure of the exact pH of each, however, they would be expected to be at least slightly different. Look it up in Merck’s Index. It will give the proper pH’s of both (it isn’t available on-line, but any school library will have a copy of it; I don’t keep a home copy or I’d let you know).
