Is Senator Scott Brown the new “Golden Boy” for the Republican Party?

Massachusett has a health care plan very similar to that now proposed in the U.S. Congress. Oddly enough, Scott Brown voted in favor of it. What gives? Well, the majority of voters in Mass. now have healthcare that suits them, and they fear that taking coverage nation-wide would only increase their costs. His opponent ran as a Democrat entitled to a Democratic seat, fanning the flames that, as the deciding vote on national healthcare, she would just fall in step with the Democratic leadership. Yes, national healthcare as proposed would probably increase the costs of the average voter in Massachusett. Yes, the Democrats would have very likely brought his opponent into the fold. Now the question would be, if the Democrats cut Brown a deal so that Mass. was assured healthcare at a cost below the national norm, could he vote against it? It’s an overwhelmingly Democratic district, so would backlash put him right back out of office?
