Is the length of an artists training important?
This is a tricky question. The answer would be yes and no. Any artist can tell you they apprenticed for 2, 4 or 6 years. The State of Maine does not have an approved apprenticeship program. An artist can tell you anything they want to and there is absolutely no way to confirm they completed ANY training. You must also remember that MANY great artists are self taught and have put in much time perfecting their trade without ever completing an apprenticeship. The best judge of an artists ability is their portfolio.
