Is the mediterranean sea landlocked?

0

Prior to the construction of the Suez Canal and if the Straits of Gibraltar were to close such that the Spanish and Moroccan borders were fused together, then the Mediterranean Sea would be landlocked since there are no other significant outlets that lead to other large bodies of water. The Mediterranean Sea does connect with the Black Sea through a narrow body of water called the Dardenelles, but the Black Sea is also a landlocked body of water and therefore doesn’t change the status of the Mediterranean Sea.
