Is the MicroKernel Database Engine v7.0 that ships with Pervasive.SQL supported on NetWare and Windows NT SMP servers?
The MicroKernel Database Engine (MKDE) provided with Pervasive.SQL v7.0 has been tested on Windows NT and NetWare SMP servers with 2 and 4 processors. Pervasive supports running Btrieve and Scalable SQL applications in this environment. However, the MKDE does not have any SMP specific code. Load balancing and processor selection is done by the network operating system itself, allowing multiple processors to be utilized in some configurations. On a NetWare 4.11 SMP server, the operating system runs on processor 0. Threads for other server processes (such as a Pervasive.SQL I/O or worker thread) run on processors >= 1. File management is also handled on processor 0 by the operating system. Therefore, if a process thread requires any file I/O, its execution will migrate to processor 0 to be executed by the operating system. When using Pervasive.SQL on a NetWare 4.11 SMP server, any time file I/O is performed on a Btrieve file, the worker thread servicing the Btrieve request will migrate t
