A restricted use database configured for this purpose can be installed as part of the Oracle Application Server installation process or an existing, licensed database may be used. Note that the restricted use database is provided for use with the Oracle Application Server Metadata Repository for storing product metadata only. Storing data other than product metadata (for example, documents uploaded into the Oracle Portal repository or OID being used as a general purpose LDAP directory) requires a full use license of the Oracle Database, either the Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, or Enterprise Edition.
