Executive Order No. 24 designates that all new school design shall incorporate the guidelines developed by the United States Green Building Council known as “Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (“LEED”), Version 2.0, to achieve maximum energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in the design of schools. SDA will utilize energy efficient design specifications for school facilities projects.

Yes. The SDA is committed to the construction of high-performance, sustainable schools. The SDA LEED Policy currently requires design consultants to design schools that meet a minimum of 29 LEED points complying with USGBC LEED for Schools Version 2.0. The SDAs New Jersey 21st Century Schools Design Manual defines criteria for the design and construction of 21st Century schools that comply with LEED standards, benefit communities and are cost-efficient.
