Is there a reset button/switch on craftsman garage door openers?
There is no reset button for a Craftsman opener manufactured within the past 15 years. The sparking you mentioned likely damaged the computer logic board inside the opener. If the opener is completely dead, you may see a small LED light on the rear panel (near the “learn” button – again, not a reset button of any kind). This light will possibly be flashing 5 times, pausing, then flashing 5 times again. Occasionally you will hear a small “click” when you try to run the machine. If so, all symptoms point to a fried logic board. Depending on the age of the opener, it may be a better value to just replace the system with a new opener. If this is the route you take, installation of the new opener (Craftsman brand or Chamberlain brand available through Lowes, Home Depot, Menards, etc – same manufacturer) is fairly quick and easy for a DIY’er, as you can reuse all of the mounting brackets and hardware, basically installing the new unit in place of the old one.
