Is there an Internet filter at school to protect students from inappropriate material?

0

Yes. The district uses one of the best filters for educational institutions. It filters out almost all of the inappropriate web sites. People who post offensive material continue to find new ways to “get around” the filters. Teachers inform their students about what to do if they happen to access an inappropriate site by mistake (exit quickly and tell the teacher). Students are held accountable for using the Internet for school purposes only. Additionally, teachers monitor Internet use by mingling with students and using keen observational skills. Parents are responsible for monitoring Internet use at home. Will students be in classes with students who do not have a computer to use? Students are grouped in classes where all students have a laptop at the 6th grade level. Beginning in 7th grade, classes will be a mixture of both laptop and nonlaptop students. AAL students will continue to use their computer to extend their learning at school and at home with the use of this powerful tool
