Is there any way to train my 7 month old kitten from biting and scratching?
Kittens taken from their mothers and litter mates at too young an age have not learned about limits in play. Kittens should stay with their mothers and litter mates until they are at least 12 weeks old – go read this very good page on the matter http://www.breedlist.com/faq/young.html If your kitten had stayed with his mother and litter mates he would have learned how rough he can play before it is to rough. Your kitten is playing when she bites and scratches you. She does not understand that the biting and scratching is not appropriate, that it is much too rough. A kitten who gets too rough with its mother or litter mates, will be “corrected” – the mother or the litter mate will nip them to say “Hey, that’s too rough. Cut it out.” Mother cats often will push a kittens head down, onto the floor, or the bottom of the nest box, or whatever, and hold it there for a while.
