Is there better FREE anti virus software than AVG?
Avira (AntiVir) and Avast are both better than AVG. Avira has the best detection rates of the three, but Avast is only slightly behind; BUT Avast can be scheduled to do a boot-time scan and also scans your email, neither of which Avira can do. Both Avira and Avast have better detection rates than AVG. Truth told, AVG is best suited for newbs who don’t want to be bothered by a real antispy, but like to say they have the most popular one. The newest free version of Avast now includes antispyware and rootkit detection. I use and recommend Avast, but I have no problem with the loyal Avira fans; however I would and do advise against AVG.
