Is this another harebrained scheme to spite Tun Dr Mahathir for building the KLIA so that it will become a white elephant?
It is a MUST to build a new terminal as the current LCCT at Sepang cannot accommodate and keep same pace with AirAsia’s growth in passengers and planes. That is accepted even by the critics of the KLIA-East project. The issue is not one of “spiting Tun Dr. Mahathir” or aimed at undermining the KLIA Main terminal. In fact, the operation of KLIA-East by AirAsia would allow Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd. to focus exclusively on promoting the KLIA Main Terminal and attracting more full-service carriers to the airport. Together with KLIA-East, the two terminals will then contribute to realizing the dream of making Kuala Lumpur a thriving, vibrant aviation hub that contributes substantially to the Malaysian economy.
