Is this true? Feminism is opposite to ancient gender roles?
You know – I’m sick of waking up at 4 am here with a head full of GS ideas. In traditional hunter/gatherer societies, such as Borneo mountain tribesmen, there are two major groups – women, the gatherers etc, who live communally with children – men, the hunters, who live communally in the ‘long house’ and visit the women’s community. At puberty, young girls are initiated into the women’s society, and young men are initiated into the men’s society and move into the long house. This fairly well establishes gender roles in traditional societies. Also, biologically, nature has made women the milk-bottle bearers, which makes women automatically the ‘primary caregivers’ of children. Ergo, it goes against traditional gender roles to try to impose any sort of biological, social, and family roles on either men or women. There can be some overlap, especially in Western society, where child bearing can be controlled to a very large extent, but, in all honesty, there remain the biological imperativ
