Is training necessary to begin implementation?
Anyone can benefit immediately by using the Adapted Dolch words and Bridge Lists. Parents, siblings, grandparents, tutors, interpreters and regular ed classroom teachers who have deaf children mainstreamed in their classrooms can begin using these support materials and should see immediate improvement in their interaction with deaf people and with printed materials. However, for classroom implementation we recommend trainings for several reasons: Assessment — Teachers are trained on how to accurately assess student progress. Classroom Management — Teachers are trained on how to manage an individualized program while being responsible for several students. Consistency — Teachers learn effective integration of program components throughout an entire school program or within one small classroom.
