Its a well-known fact that a great deal of Motor Bearing Wear is at startup, so why dont the manufactures address the problem?

Thats a good question and a lot of people ask it. It isn’t a secret and yet only a few engine builders incorporate a pre lube system in their design. One thing for sure, if all engines were pre lubed before startup, there would be a lot fewer new ones made.
