Even if the Center receives money from foundations, the single most important factor in succeeding in getting a community center is buy-in from the people who care about it and are going to use it. Major donors and foundations want to see the Tibetan community and their supporters give whatever they can – even if the donation is symbolic – in order to show that this project is really a priority and that we’re serious.
