Sinemet, or levodopa, competes for absorption with protein. The Sinemet will not be well absorbed by the gut if taken too close to a meal which will cause it to be ineffective in managing the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. It should be taken at least 30 minutes prior to a meal or snack containing protein, or at least two hours after a meal.
