MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether) is used as a fuel additive in gasoline in order to prevent engine knock. Perchlorate is the primary ingredient of solid rocket propellant. A growing number of studies have detected MTBE and perchlorate in underground aquifers throughout the country. In some instances these contaminated aquifers form sources of drinking water. If these pollutants are present in your municipal water source, the FreshPure™ Waters state-of-the-art purification system will remove them.
