Basically it is just a big condenser that stores voltage, but not much current. The Honda charging systems need some kind of an electrical load to balance the output. With no battery or a dead one, the output will exceed the voltage of the bulbs and blow them all out. You have to have a fully operational charging system for the bike to run with or w/o the eliminators and that includes the rectifier. You can often find them on Ebay for sale or check into one of the solid state radio shack replacements offered from Ebay sellers.
