I am in White County Arkansas. The rule here is, he/she has to be in the bus driver’s route or zoned for that school district. Sometimes you can arrange for a drop off place at the edge of the county, but first you have to petition for entry into the school you want to send your child to. If there is no alternative for Special Ed in your county, you may have more options, and of course, it depends on the state and county you live in. Check with the Admin Office of the school you wish your child to attend, and good luck! Stick to your guns until you get what you want!

The school district will assess your child’s needs and determine whether he or she needs to go to a school in another county or can go to school in county. If they decide that the best school is out of county, they must pay for transportation. You have a right to be a part of the meeting that determines the school placement. You should probably talk to your child’s teacher or principal about your concerns.
