My MS controller is properly connected but it shows up as “not connected” in the Game Controller setup panel. Whats the deal?
A. The problem could be a number of things: – Make sure you are using a compatible soundcard and have the latest set of drivers installed. – Don’t use extension cables, switches or splitters. In most cases the signal is degraded and interference may be picked up. – Assure your gameport is properly setup in the System Properties. If you just installed a new soundcard the old port driver my still be active. Remove any occurrences of duplicate or unused devices by starting in safe mode (F8 at startup). System Properties will show any active driver set. Remove any you are sure are not being used. The last one listed when multiple instances are listed, is typically the one being used by Windows.
